Robin Tinney (left) and Christy Burns, both well-qualified professional trainers with extensive national experience, work with EHF to provide excellent, individually designed training programs for horse and rider. Their students have competed successfully from the local circuit level to the national finals in hunters, jumpers and equitation. They regularly take students to shows in the region and in adjoining states, as well as to such prestigious shows as Devon, The Upperville Horse and Pony Show, The Washington International, The Pennsylvania National and Pony Finals.
Private lessons, group lessons, training and exercise rides for horses, assistance with the purchase and sale of horses, as well as general consultations regarding horse care and management, are all available on the farm or off-site by appointment, along with schooling and training at shows. The farm also offers clinics given by other visiting professional trainers from time to time.
Robin Tinney grew up in the Northeast showing extensively in the hunter, jumper and equitation divisions as a junior rider. Since her family had a private barn, they were able to work with a varied group of trainers including some of the country’s most influential horseman such as Cynthia Williams, Bill Cooney, Frank Madden, Paul Valliere and Mike Henaghan. Following her junior riding career, Robin attended Wellesley College where she completed a degree in chemistry, catch rode horses locally for Massachusetts trainers such as Peter Wylde and Fred Hunt and worked part time at Dover Saddlery.
Since turning professional in 1996, Robin has successfully competed hunters and jumpers from the local level to the “AA” shows all over the east coast. As a trainer she has coached juniors and adults at all levels in the hunters, jumpers and equitation. Robin’s students compete successfully from Short Stirrup to Medal/Maclay Finals to the Junior A/O Jumpers. She has been a part of many winning combinations including ribbon winners at Devon, Harrisburg, Maclay Regionals, Pony Finals, Zone Finals and WEF.
Christy Burns grew up riding and showing on a local hunter circuit in eastern North Carolina. She has extensive experience starting green horses and retraining problem horses. Using her dressage background she has a large focus on flatwork helping each horse to achieve its full potential. Christy possesses a true understanding of the patience, perseverance and skill necessary for success in the competitive horse industry.
Christy graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Farm Management and a B.S. in Agribusiness from Bob Jones University in South Carolina. While in South Carolina she also worked as a groom, organized summer riding camps and taught beginner through intermediate lessons. After graduating, Christy obtained valuable horse show and farm management skills and furthered her riding experience at Grazing Fields Farm, Massachusetts; Apex Equestrian Center, North Carolina; Spring Hill Farm, New Jersey; and Paramount Show Stables, North Carolina. Since 2011 Christy has been working at Bayview Equestrian Center just east of Houston, Texas as Rider and Assistant Trainer & Manager. There she trains, rides, shows, teaches and manages.
